UPDATES: EVENTS & SCHEDULES

Little Flower Basilica, San Antonio, Texas - sanctuary
Little Flower Basilica to Reopen for Public Mass on the Weekend of June 6-7, following the Archdiocese Guidelines
05/21/2020

Fr. Luis Gerardo Belmonte-Luna, O.C.D., Rector and Pastor of the Little Flower Basilica in San Antonio, Texas, has the following message regarding reopening of Masses to the public:

Archbishop Gustavo has decreed that, beginning May 19, the Eucharist may be celebrated with the participation of the people, following the guidelines for distancing, seating capacity and sanitary measures.

Due to the celebration of the Provincial Chapter (May 25 to June 5), the Carmelite Fathers who serve in this Basilica will reopen the Basilica for the Eucharistic celebration with the participation of the people on the weekend of June 6-7.

During this time, we will continue to live stream Masses on
Facebook and YouTube. We appreciate your understanding and unconditional support.

This time will help us better prepare to implement the necessary measures within the church, so that with the help of our committee and volunteers we may offer you a safe and clean environment. A forthcoming letter outlining the plan will be provided to the parishioners in advance of our first public Eucharistic celebration.

Little Flower Basilica COVID-19 Update - Mar. 20, 2020
Little Flower Basilica Update - Mar. 20, 2020
03/21/2020

Due to most recent guidelines, the Discalced Carmelite Friars have made the difficult decision to cancel all public liturgy at Little Flower Basilica. We are actively working with Little Flower Administration on making the liturgy available to parishioners and the public via social media.

In addition to the liturgy, we will be implementing the following restrictions:

Funerals will need to adhere to the size limit of 10 (including priest, organist, funeral home staff and family.) An option to consider would be to have a committal service in place of the Mass, and when the crisis situation is over, a Memorial Mass could be celebrated.

Weddings will need to adhere to the size limit of 10 (including priest, organist, couple and family.)

Baptisms will need to adhere to the size limit of 10 (including priest, child and family.)

Triduum: Little Flower priests will celebrate the Triduum but it will not be a public liturgy. We will work on live streaming on social media for the benefit of the faithful. More details coming soon.

RCIA Elect and/or Candidates: Arrangements will be made to administer the Initiation Sacraments to them in the Vigil Mass and Masses of the Octave of Easter, or even throughout the Easter season. The limits on the size of the congregation should be respected at these celebrations. More details coming soon.

Confirmation: Candidates for Confirmation already baptized in the Catholic Church will receive the sacrament in the fall at an event to be scheduled at a later date.

Please visit the Little Flower Basilica's website for more information.
